New 23-Story Hotel

The Conrad

The Conrad is a “4-star” flagship hotel of the Hilton Hotels Corporation, one of three Conrad hotels in the U.S. An undeveloped plot of land, as well as an adaptive reuse of two neighboring historic buildings, were used to create this project, located in downtown Indianapolis next to Circle Centre Mall. The hotel encompasses the ground through 17th floors and is topped by six levels featuring 15 luxury residential condominiums. The existing historic buildings adjacent to the hotel site are integrated into the tower and feature a restaurant at the street level and rental apartments above.

 

The hotel lobby, lounge, upscale restaurant and residential lobby occupy the first floor of the building. Meeting space is located on the second floor, which connects to the Indianapolis Artsgarden. The third and fourth floors contain parking for the hotel (residential parking is located in the basement). Executive offices, laundry and other back-of-house areas are located on the fifth floor. A fitness center, spa and indoor pool, along with guest rooms, occupy the sixth floor. Guest rooms continue through floor 17, and residential units finish out the tower on floors 18 through 23.

 

IMEG provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design and construction administration observation for the project. Key systems designed included smoke evacuation systems for corridors and ballrooms, star pressurization systems, underground parking garage ventilation, kitchen ventilation, district steam connections (heating) with multi-stage pressure reducing stations and de-super heaters, district chilled water connections (cooling), and domestic water pressure booster/balance systems.
